The black-capped male gets all the press, but I think the female is very pretty, too. Tangle River, Denali Highway.
Full frame, slight adjustments to brightness and contrast, selective sharpening to bird.
C & C, please, Thanks for looking.

9 commentsGorgeous, Jim!! I can't think of a solitary criticism of this more than perfect shot. One of your best!

Excellent, Jim. I like the pose and detail. What's the shrub? I thought it was a willow until I noticed the really cool blossoms.
Nice bird, Jim.
I liked the comp here. I don't know the species, but I guess it shows the environment of this bird.
Question regarding 500mm f/4 + TC 2x. Have you microadjusted it?
A beauty. Excellent detail and setting. The larger version is especially nice.
Very good with this shot! One of the better looks at this species that I have experienced. The detailed warbler is nicely framed with the willow branch.

Dennis: it's one of Alaska's 30-35 willow species; I don't know which one.
Jefferson: no time for micradjustment; this is a very active species; just autofocus.
Thanks, everyone.
I really like how you framed this one Jim. not easy to make this busy surrounding look so "un-busy" but you did. I have one super tiny nit...I actually feel crappy to even say this, but it is honestly because I like this image a lot and my OCD is taking over....I might clone or crop out the tiny leaf popping in from the upper left corner.
I like this a lot Jim, including the habitat. The comp is perfect and the details are very sharp. Well done.
Very nice shot of the Wilson's Jim, I rarely see this warbler here.
Excellent light and sharp details, and the setting works fine for me.
I especially like how the wet leaves, vertical stem, etc. tightly frame the bird.. As if in a loving caress
