Fiery-billed Aracari, Pteroglossus frantzii

In Jaco, Costa Rica at a friends house for coffee one morning when along came this Fiery- billed Aracari beauty. Fortunantly, all of my gear was in the car and I was able to get a few shots off before it departed.

Nicely taken!  I think you obtained good colors, a fine pose, and an OK  BG.  I do see what could be a halo behind the right wing.

Good looking bird, glad you were able to get a fine photo of it.  Thanks for sharing.

A superb bird and a great pose, Neil.  Looks like you could have used just a tad more dof for the bill, but it's still very good.  Given the environment, I kind of like the brightly mottled bg-it has a definite tropical feel.

A very nice capture of this wonderful species, Neil. You've captured the placid curiousity well, and your work on the blacks and the red collar is impeccable. If it were mine, I might selectively pull down the bright area on the perch, between the feet.

I really like the pose and look you got from this Aracari Neil. My only nit is the bright branch above the head in the BG. Since it is so close to the eye, I might be tempted to burn it a little more.

Love the look in its eye Neil.. I think the close framing, XXL beak, and unusual POV maximize its impact too.

You've made a great connection with the viewer here Neil, the large view's a must seedevil
