Western Kingbird

This is a bird I've been chasing for a little while. They seem to abound around here, but today was the first time I've been able to get one on something other than a fence or at a great distance. I love the colors in this. The b/g, perch and subject all do well together nicely I think.

As always, comments and critiques are welcome.

7D MkII, 500 f4, 1.4x, 1/1250 @ 7.1, ISO 400, no flash, small crop from left and top, PP done in LR CC.

Sweet image, Greg.  Nice pose and perch and a lovely bg that all work together, as you noted.  Well done.

Lovely clean and sharp image, Greg!

Love the perch and BG in this as well...

I'm wondering if a slightly closer crop would work?

Hi Greg

This is a really interesting photograph.  The color and detail are good.  What is the background?

Really nice capture with a killer background. You have certainly stepped up your game from your first few posts. Well done.

Congrats on getting a species that has been hard for you to appraoch previously Greg. My experience with this species, is they tend to be very active. Many times, when they hunt for bugs, they will even return to the same perch. Hope you get more chances in the future and looks like you made good with the opportunity you got here. Nice work.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. This has been a real joy for me over the last 6 months or so.

Peter, the b/g is a road, dying grass and greener grass.
