Oxbow Bend and Repost

Oxbow Bend. The light has just hit the clouds and the peak of the mountain. You can see mist at the waters edge on both shores. Best sunrise I have ever seen there. Nikon D750 Nikon 16-35. F16 1/4 ISO 100 Tripod.

Comments and critiques please. Always trying to learn.

I like the serene feeling you have catured with this morning mountain image. Larger image shows nicely, the beautiful tree line moves me through the scene, love the mist...too bad about the ripples playing with the reflection, I bet  the fish were biting.

Nice and calm image, love the slightly rippled reflection. The top feels a bit empty to me, so I would be inclined to crop some of the top out.

Sweet comp and light, Andrew. I agree with Roel that cropping a good amount of sky would strengthen the image. This might be one of those that works very well with a nearly centered horizon (aka, breaking the rule of thirds ;-)

Andrew, this is a fine, gently inviting scene with the hints of sun on the clouds, the subtle mist on the water and some glorious reflections (including the ripples, which I like a lot).  While there's a nice sense of space in the view as presented, I also think that a crop off the top would put even more attention on the strongest parts of this image.

I like the calm and the grandiose effect given by the mountains in BG and reflection in the water. The beautiful light in the clouds reflects on the mountain to give them this impressive white tone.

Beautiful, tranquil scene from the Tetons.  To me the cropped version is better but I think I would bring down the exposure in the sky  a little to bring out some of that sunrise mystery.  It just seems unaturally bright to me.

While I prefer the cropped version I'm wondering why you also chose to also crop some of the image from the left side and not just the top. Did you want to keep the same ratio?

The sky was bright before the mountains and how the image looks is correct to the best of my recollection. I will try to tone the sky down a little and see how it looks. Thanks for the critique.

I did crop it to match the ratio but perhaps a crop with just sky would be better.

I learn from every post so keep the critiques coming. Always trying for that next great image.

Thanks

I feel that the sky exposure is fine as is. I agree that the crop from the left was best not done. There are some nice reflections that were removed.

They say the third time is a charm. Keeping the image but reducing top of sky area.

Cool. The third image is right there. I really like the soft light and the mist adds a nice dimension.
