Here's a photo of the Holi Festival in India during which colored powders are thrown on each other. The origins/meanings of the festival range from the celebration of the death of a mythical demoness to the welcoming of Spring as well as a field leveling event as all are covered in powder and class distinctions are not visible.
Regardless, it is a great event to attend. All is done in good fun. Taken with an Olympus E-M1, 12-40 mm lens, f/4, 1/160 and ISO 200. Richard

6 commentsA complete story, even without the explanation. The flying powder, the smiles, the raised hands tell it all.
Looks like so much fun , it is on my bucket list to see ! Beautiful image !
Almost every Indian movie I have seen makes reference to this festival and any trip I would make there would need to coincide with Holi. It always appears to be a totally spontaneous outburst of fun and colour. I think you have done a good job of getting that across in your image.
The color and action is captured extreemly well. Great image telling a story very well.
Lively action and great color. I think the hands visible along the bottom add a ncie dimension.

How cool is this event, eh?......Sounds and looks like a real kick, Richard. I like your overall perspective from this POV and the lighting seems to really showcase this event nicely.
