One more of the Yellow-billed Cuckoo. This time mid-morning in some softer light, & a wings forward pose..
Also some have some yellow lantana that came into the frame, along side this small run-off stream from our pond.
F/8, 1/400th, ISO 640, 5DM2, 300mm f/2.8 + 2x ext. around 9:00am & natural light.

5 commentsAwesome image of a hard to get species. I believe surveys indicate around 30 pairs in all of California.
Love everything about it, especially the position of the wings. Very nice.
Another beauty, Howard. I like the way the lines of htis one work with the wings and the rocks. The detail in the larger image is superb.
I like the soft light in this one Howard and nice wing position.
Really like the wing position Howard, excellent shot as usual! Ray
