Red Fox

During my spring Yellowstone adventures, I was able to bring clients to a red fox den for a couple days.  After bringing food in to her kits, the vixen climbed back up the hill above the den site and settled in briefly on this boulder.  It was a really appealing mix of background colors and patterns, though I did try to tone down the highlights on those sunlit trunks just a tad.

She really stands out well from the background. The background colors are really nice also. Little America?

Thanks guys.  Jerry, this den was a few miles south of Norris.  One of the few times I ever go down to that area. enlightened

Hi Max,

I like your overall composition here, especially how you positioned the fox in the frame and the head-turn of the fox and the positioning of the tail are near perfect (nice - are darned rare - when the subject cooperates so fully!). I like the colouring in the background, but do find that the strong, bright vertical lines formed be the tree trunks pull at my eye (and away from the subject) a little.

Cheers...

Brad

An alternative concept would be to negates some of the effect of the brighter vertical trunks with a careful crop and present this nicely posed subject in vertical format!  Good work, here.
