A bit more abstract than my previous post, I felt the clouds created a nice frame around the rhyolite mountains in the Highlands of Iceland. Mountains and sun would appear sporadicaly as we flew through the clouds so it was a matter of reacting fast to frame and shoot.

Nikon D810, f8, ISO 400, 1/4000 sec.

These Aerial photo's have been fascinating and this one maybe my favorite as it seems to have a bit more clarity as a landscape vs. abstract. You had excellent weather for these......What a beautiful and fascinating country.

This is also my favorite of the series, Harry. How long were you in the air for this flight? Can't wait to see your images from the ground.

Another beauty, misty clouds compliment the snow fields. Love the images.

Spectacular.  I love the gauzy curtains of clouds and the combination of cold white glacier and warm tones in the ridges.  This is a real treat to look at.  I'm a little curious about what a flight like this costs, but it seems tasteless to ask here.  Feel free to PM me if you care to share such details

Dave - I was up for about 1.5 hrs.

Marylynne - My flight was $1200. I was a private charter in a Cessna that had the ability to open windows.  I could have gone less expensive if I eleceted to go on a regular sight seeing trip, but others would have been in the plane, which is very tight to begin with. Also, I was able to instruct the pilot to turn, loop around, or bank in a direction to move wings out of the way or get a specific angle of lighting.  Since the pilot isn't a photographer, he was relying on me to go where I wanted to go given the weather and winds.  I had heard less expensive options were available if you hired a student pilot out of Reykjavik, I just wasn't into taking chances.  Helicopters would have been a better choice, but much more expensive.  I found the experience very worthwhile despite the relatively high cost.  Business expensesad

Very cool, Harry!  Great patterns and colors. Excellent series and an excellent image.  You got your money's worth from that plane ride.

Thanks, Harry.  That actually seems reasonable for a private experience.  I think I paid $200 to fly around Denali in a sightseeing plane...no windows to open, no ability to direct the pilot, and that was around 2002.  Thanks for sharing.

Definitely my favorite, Harry.  The whole package has been a treat and a bargain at twice the price.  I love the veil of fog framing this fantasy land.  Unbelievingly beautiful and very unique.

This is my favorite from this series so far. Absolutely stunning. Love the patterns and the warm colors of the rock.

This is almost abstract, Harry...and I really like it. I think it's tops of the arial shots you've been posting.

Works for me!
