It is the classic pose for woodpeckers, but nicely taken. To me it looks pale compared to those around here in central Illinois. Thanks for sharing.

Although we've got them here in So Cal too, we can hardly ever see them. Very illusive little guys. So, with that said kudos for even getting a super shot of this natural pose, Howard. The soft or muted colors really fits this scene too.....nice work!
Did you entertain taking the lower branch off?

The composition is very appealing, especially the leafs in the upper part of the image add quite something. Nicely seen and executed Howard ! Cheers, Hans

HI Haward
Nice work on the exposer. I think the Woodpecker's coloring is brighter in the winter?

Great bg and composition, Howard. The face looks just a trifle soft to me in the larger image-maybe another round of sharpening there?

Does seem a bit pale, but a very satisfactory shot, nonetheless. I agree with Dennis on another bit of sharpening, but just on the head.

Very nice image Howard. Beautiful bird in a lovely habitat. Maybe could use a little sharpening but like it as is.
