Ghost Forest I

For some reason this stand of pines was drowned by an encroaching lake leaving a nice stand of bleached white trunks surrounded by a bunch of lush growth. I debated cropping the background on the left side and I actually did crop the sunrise-lit mountain that you can see reflected in the water because it was a little too hot and distracting.

This image was made about ten minutes after the paintbrush image I posted a couple of days ago. Thanks for everyone's comments!   I'm wondering though how come there was only one intervening landscape shot submitted over those 48 hours??!?! C'mon people, let's see your work..... crying

A very peaceful scene. I like the colors, composition and the reflection of trees and clouds adds a lot.

I would crop down still further to eliminate the background sunlight in the upper right. I would not crop from the left cause it weakens the composition.  Viewed from iPhone with its limitations.

I probably would have gone with the crop off the left, but very nice as is.  Lovely intimate shot. The small amount of warkm light above is a nice balance for me.  Very natural feel.

Dave, this is excellent. I agree with your thoughts on the crop idea, but maybe subjective in placement just a bit. The light is what really sets this image up. The resulting contrasting colors is a real plus......devil

Love the goleden light in the reflecton coupled with the starkness of the pines.  Very nice, Dave. I would be inclined to crop the left side and make this image all about the trees and reflection and not about the larger scene or view.

For your contemplation, here is a version with the left side cropped and the bright background light also. I think I kind of miss that FG grass on the left side which balances the FG grass on the right.

This has a feeling of quiet that is very appealing. Beutiful color and comp.

I gotta say I like the repost, Dave.  Condenses the image to the essential elements for me.  I had a computer meltdown and should be back up and running in a few days...........I hope.  keep em coming.

Excellent concept.   I guess the orange in the the upper right is a bit distracting but not sure if it's worth cropping off or not.

Oops.  Just saw the repost.  That works!

Another nice ghost forest scene, Dave. I prefer the repost as it does get down to the essentials. I might be tempted to pull back a tad on the blues, though. The orange reflection is a nice touch.
