Caught this Great Egret in an unlikely place in Florida. Wild bird but captive gator. Never saw this before.
Nikon D750 Nikon 70-200 F10 1/200 ISO 200
Strong enough image for competition ??
Comments and critiques please.

Hey Andrew,
I looked at the image thumbnail and was just about to move this image to the Avian Gallery - then I saw the perch! Very cool shot. I think the shot as presented is very strong - great subject matter, the natural contrast is great, love the reflections and the colour in the reflections. Diagonal flow is excellent as well. About the only thing that occurs to me (and this is definitely personal preference) is that I'd probably remove a little of the foreground (so that the amount of space below the egret's head in the reflection is close to that above it in the "non-reflection"). This would also point the gator's snout more at the corner of the frame, which I think often helps strengthen diagonal flow.
RE: Strong enough image for competition?? Can't say - I don't do competitions and thus lack the experience to have a valid opinion.
Cheers...and thanks for sharing this one...

The gator is probably thinking why do they always land on the wrong end? A nice image and I agree with Brad's comment about the crop off the bottom..............................Jim

Hey Andrew,
Very Cool moment captured here, I agree with Brad's crop suggestion. My first reaction was to much space at the bottom.
I enter a number of competitions and Jurored Art Shows and there is absolutely no way to predict what a Judge is going to pick as a winner. Generally you will be amazed at what some people think is good or bad or even art at all. The only thing you can do is get entered and see what happens. Longevity seems to play a roll in the decision making so don't be disappointed if you don't place as well as you'd hoped the first few times out, but by all means, keep at it. Remember, you will never win if you don't enter - Good Luck.

Cool behavioural image. I captured a snowy perched on a gator at Gatorland in Orlando several years ago. I wonder if this behaviour only occurs with captive gators or if wild ones serve as perches as well.

This is a picture, where not main subject, but perch, which is highly unusual, is a show stopper.
I agree with Brad's suggestion, it would also make it less squarish.
As for your question, it is indeed a strong contender for competitions.
