Yellow-billed Cuckoo cooling off in some soft mid-morning light, & a wings forward pose..

Some yellow lantana came into the frame along this small run-off stream from our pond.

F/8, 1/400th, ISO 640, 5DM2, 300mm f/2.8 + 2x ext. around 9:00am, no flash. 08-05-2015

Oh man, I can actually feel the cool down here, Howard. This was a pleasant surprise after BBQ-ing in 100+ degrees just now.

You could not have caught this guy in a better portraiture IMO........Just excellent!!...laugh

Now that's making good use of a watering hole, Howard.  Excellent catch on the Cuckoo.  I'm a bit surprised that 1/400 would be so sharp on a moving bird...still learning this "high speed" photography stuff.  Love the wings forward/tail up pose.  Those lantana have provided fine support in several of your shots this summer. sad

Hi Mark, thanx for commenting..

In reading your statement "I'm a bit surprised that 1/400 would be so sharp on a moving bird", I see you need more info/clarification.

The bird's not moving, but rather slowly extending its wings in the water to cool itself off.. OKwink
