My 9-year old Grandniece, who is a hard-working, excellent gymnast. This was at a local meet here in Savannah. She won first overall in her age group.

Tricky photography! No flash allowed, Mixed tungsten and high, small windows. What light came through them was from overcast skies.

A sort of second in sequence. This was her warmup. The catcher was there in case she fell.

The start of her dismount. She did well, first in her age group, third on her team.

You must have nerves of steel, Phil. If I would have been in this situation, 1/640 would have looked like a pan blur. The series is great stop action. My favorite is the first one.  Her body position creates a lot of tension and anticipation. Nicely done.

I like the second image the best. The coach has a purpose for being in the image and the way his arms are positioned match the angle of the young ladies body. It would have been nice if there were not so many distracting elements. The first image it looks like the coach is just leaning against the wall. The second image it is obvious that it is past the prime moment for the composition of the elements.
