Swayne's Hartebeest

Over many years of journeying through Africa, I have always tried to find and photograph the many antelopes on this continent,

In the past there were 8 subspecies of Hartebeest, 1 the Bubal is now extinct and the Tora and Western are now in very limited numbers. I have managed to see the other 5, the Swayne's is just hanging on and is endemic to Ethipoia, this image was taken in Senkele Swayne's Hartebeest Sanctuary (unfenced) the population numbers a few hundred.

Ken, you post more interesting animals than anyone else on this site. I really enjoy seeing these different species which I never have experienced. I like the look this guys is giving you and nice placement in the frame.

I think the grasses add much to the over all positive effect.  I like this image.  Well done, as we come to expect from you.

An excellent capture of the Hartebeest and I especially like the layered background with varied degrees of focus (or lack thereof).  It really adds depth to the scene and makes it all look very 3D.  Those eyes are clearly looking right at you also!   Thank you for showing me an animal I will probably never see in my lifetime, Ken devil
