I had to dig back to a trip last fall for this one. We went down to the redwoods in Northern California and this was one of the stops along the way. I have no idea which one. A more peaceful take on waves that the first few.
5Diii, 28-70 f2.8L @ 42mm, hand held, f/11, 1/320, iso 400, aperture priority, pattern metering, +2/3 stop compensation. Processed in LR5 & CS6. Straightened 1 degree CCW and cropped off most of the triangles but filled in a small one on the bottom to get the proportions I wanted. Processed the sky, foreground and middle distance seperately to get the look I wanted. Taken at *:28 am on September 18th, 2014.
Thanks for the comments on the self-portrait, and I look forward to your input on this image.

3 commentsYes, I like the calm, textured look of the water, Dennis, and the fog adds to the serenity. The muted browns and blues go well together.
Dennis, I like the foreground grasses, the long sweeping arc of shoreline and all of the subtle textures in the sky. I don't know if the weather and your time constraints would have allowed it, but I think that getting this with sun on foreground grasses would have added some nice color pop. Given that last statement, I'm fascinated that you say that this was processed to give you what you wanted. That statement vs mine are an excellent indication of why we're all individuals making personal choices and that's what creates "artistic vision".
Great comp Dennis. I like the amount of space you've given the FG and the way this leads your eye..
Nice depth of field & mood.. Like the light fog that shrouds the bank, and that group of large rocks ULC as well
