Here a slightly different macro butterfly image - taken realtively early in the morning in its natural suroundings (Slovenia) the Brimestone (Gonepteryx rhamni) was separated from the fore- and background by the judicious placing of both a white reflector and diffusor. With an accurate ETTR these naturally blew out to a full white to give a very clean graphic image whilst maintaining a good exposure of the subject.

5 commentsI like the artistic, high-key presentation, Mark. Beautifully done, and thanks for the technique explanation.
Hi Mark,
I like the high key presentation of the butterfly. Large image provides the best view. It must have been fairly cool to get the scene set without scaring the butterfly from its perch. Well done

Mark this is a beautiful image and very well crafted. I dont get to see too many high key images in the small world.
