Another image taken on a trip with Nate Chappell into the Pantanal in Brazil. Thanks for your comments on my Caiman post. Once we found the jaguars (actually it was the guide who found them) they were often sleeping and we had to sit and wait for sometimes an hour before the jaguar decided to wake up and go hunting.
This image was taken from a boat, hand held using a Nikon D810 camera, a 300 2.8 lens, f4, 1.1250, ISO 1600.
Thanks for looking and critiques appreciated.

5 commentsMay: what's not to like about a wild Jaguar looking you right in the eye? I like how the raised paw gives a good sense of motion. Have you considered lowering the whites a bit? On my screen, they look blown, particularly on the rear portion of the cat. That will add more contrast to the photo. Congrats on a good one! Richard
May,
I agree with Richard the whites, I believe more contrast could be the answer?
Great shot, May. That look and body language project that he means business. Totally agree with others about reducing the highlights to retrieve contrast.
Cheers,
Hisham.
Great action and expression. I think you will improve this with a pull back on the exposure, maybe 1/3 stop. The jaguar feels slightly overexposed and a global reduction would make this really dramatic, IMO.
