I found this picture frame without a picture in the old 2nd Judicial District courtroom in Columbia. If you look closely, there is a pencil sketch of a portrait of a man dressed in what appears to be a Civil War era uniform. According to the local historian, this was probably sketched in the 1800’s, but the identity of the gent is unknown. I found this pretty interesting.

This is very cool, Preston. The frame, the wall textures and the chipped paint make a great abstract and the civi war sketch is a real bonus.  I like this a lot.

Yes indeed, Preston. This has a bit of an eerie side or thought to go with it, I guess maybe "ghostly" or "haunting" would fit the image. Lots of stuff associated with the civil war era can side on the spooky side of things. I can recall some Twilight Zone shows that had some thought provoking episodes from that era too. Especially the one produced out of France of all places called the Incident at the Owl Creek Bridge. I think you can find it on Youtube.

Anyway, this is a great find and again, very thought provoking for anyone who can conjure up civil war era historical recall.

Thanks, gents!

I had to get special permission to photograph inside this building because it's closed to the public. I would like to go back and do a closeup of the sketch and the surrounding peeling paint, without the frame. I find this very intriguing.
