Fall's Splendor

No, I haven't left although my NPN subscrip lapsed for a couple of days ;-)
Just back from a month long trip to Scandinavia, my first, including 2.5 less than ideal weeks above the Arctic Circle. That will make for a lot of processing. I'm sure glad I had a GND.

In the meantime, here's an image from last fall of a sunrise in Great Basin NP looking towards the Wheeler ridge line.

PS: Drop me a line if you'd like some first time impressions of the region, including the Lofotens, from a newbie.

Was wondering where you'd got off to. Happy to see you back, Dave.

I really like the layers of color, and the light on the slope is a nice touch.

Looking forward to seeing your latest work!

Nice layers of color and texture.  The greens are a bit intense on my monitor, but otherwise like this alot.

Hi Dave, the greens and yellows in the foreground work very well and really set off the spot lighting on the oranges in the distance.  Well seen and presented.  Looking forward to your Scandinavia results.

'Splendid' image. Well conceived and the post processing is well done. The layered design works well here and I really like the fact that the bottom layer, the grass, is dark at the bottom edge of the frame. In fact, that's my favorite layer. The aspens are a bit over processed for my taste, both the greens and the white trunks. The far background has some very nice lighting. Splendid image. Oh, and welcome back.

I really like the layering and depth, the comp works well. Nice image.  I would concur with Igor on the processing, especially the super intense greens in the trees and grasses.

Apart from the Aspen trees issue that the others mentioned, this is great. Good use of layers, and you captured some nice light.

You got some nasty arctic circle weather I guess? Did you see the aurora at Abisko?
