Dare To Be Different

I loved this one little guy hanging out in the meadow all by himself. The sun dropping behind the ridge behind was a nice bonus. Very shortly after making the image, he was in the shadows too.

I agree with Paul, this is excellent! I really love the wall of trees in the shadow looking down on that single tree in the sunshine. This is really well seen and photographed, and the title is very fitting.

Another beauty, Harley.  This may be my favorite thus far.  Luv the lone aspen glowing as if in a performance to the audience behind.  I also like the white trunks of the aspen with their selective glow.  By design?   Really nice my friend.

Wow, that is a cool picture Harley. That's a winner in my book. That background is amazingly beautiful. Don't know how much if any postprocessing was done to have it so well defined within those shadows. Did you shoot any more images where the shadows moved closer to you and still left the tree in full sunlight? I would darken the highlights in the fg quite a bit and see what that does to the composition ( and crop some from the bottom?). Very nice. I like this a lot.

Holy cow, this is absolutely gorgeous!  The lone tree all lit up in the FG is wonderful, and the rows of white trunks behind it, with the leaves glowing like you controlled the Sun is simply amazing.  I actually clicked on the larger version because I wanted to see it even bigger.  I was about to call this a calendar shot, but that's not good enough; I would want to see this completely filling a wall!

This photo seems to have it all -- patterns, light and shade and striking colors -- all brought together in a beautiful composition. Another thing that stands out about this one is that it looks both realistic as well as abtract at the same time.

Really well done, Harley.

Stop him, he's trying to excape!  What a neat catch, Harley.  I especially like the stands of Aspen trunks on the hillside and how you've got the shadows perfectly positioned.

Just a beautiful image in a series of them Harley. That background is amazingly lifelike. My first thought was that the illuminated tree should be centered since it is so close to being there but then your title doesn't work as well ;-)

Harley,

Outstanding photo. The shadowed BG perfectly highlights the singel tree.  I also love the patterns in the BG trees as well as the stick nature of the trunks.  Really nice.

Remarable image!  Great eye to see and capture this scene.  I think you could crop just a bit off of the bottom, about where the rock is.  thanks for sharing.

You've got a thing for lonsome trees this week. cool

I really like this a lot. The light is wonderful and the lone tree really pops against the darker background. I might be tempted to bring up the mids in the background just a tiny bit. Other than that, this is really nicely done and perfectly timed.
