Early Fall 1

Hi all.

Well, I guess officially, we are in to early fall.  As Phil pointed out with his last post, we have been having a warmer-than-usual fall also here in Utah.  It has been very nice as our dahlias, osteospermums, and other plants just keep on keeping on.

I have had a few chances to take photos of this variety of dahlia, so I may be posting a couple more of it.

Any and all thoughts appreciated.

Nathan

Do mercy, but that is purty! I know how difficult it is to get red right. You did well! This is a real showpiece.devildevil

Early fall; is that when the dahlias turn red?  ;^)

Great work with lighting, exposure and processing, to catch the brilliance, textures, and depth of this.

Nathan your skill and ispiration in taking dhalia flowers is outstanding. I love specially the feeling of transparencies in the high lit petals. Splendid work.

Excellent job on a very difficult color, Nathan.  You've pushed the saturation all the way and it really works.

This turned out very well, Nathan. "Luscious" describes this one.

Hi Nathan, I like this shot with a nice composition - I think the light is good in this version and the colour spot on!  With such a flower you're always going to be cutting something that perhaps you would prefer not to in the image but a couple of millimeters to the right would just give a tiny bit of space between the middle right edge flower headlet and the edge of the frame which it just touches.  Again a vey minor point but losing a couple of millimeters from the left wouldn't do anything drastic to the image.  It would be good to see the same shot with the dark flower head (like the shadows!) looking into the frame rather than out of it ...devil

Cheers, Mark
