Mountain Spring

A zoom into a melting mountain top at Valdez, Alaska.  Spring sunshine, moving fog mixing with clouds, melting snow & fresh green on the trees and brush.  The essence of Springtime in Alaska!

The large version has much more presence.

Sony ILCE-6000, SEL-55210 @ 210mm, ISO-100, f/6.3, 1/3200, handheld.  Used the DRO (Dynamic Range Optimization) function on the a6000 at it's highest level to deal with the bright white and dark tree line situation.  It eliminates the need for a lot of processing later on.

Gary, this is a good look at this mountain surrounded very nicely by the fog/clouds and set off well by the green ridge.  I am thinking that a slight dodging (or maybe a gentle saturation boost) of the greens would add nicely here.

Nice alpine scene, Gary.  I think I agree with Mark in that a little brighter foreground, maybe a slight shadow boost, would lighten this just a little.  The DRO function sounds and looks like a great idea.

The contrast between the snowy muntains and the foresty hills is very appealing to me. I agree with the others about the foreground.

This definitely sings at the larger size. I would concur with the suggestions above.

I really like the composition. I also like the juxtaposition of the green trees and shrubs against the snow covered mountain. The fog adds a very nice element.
