Great Blue Heron
by Dennis Plank
A simple compositoin, but I liked the angle from above and the look of the water as a bg in this one. This was taken from the road shoulder where the highway crosses the Big Beef Creek estuary on a causeway (quite a bit of parking room for photographers). At higher tides the water comes right up to the riprap and you end up shooting down. Once it goes out a bit, the beach is accessible.
7Dii, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, Jobu gimbal on RRS legs, f/7.1, 1/2500, iso 500, manual exposure. Processed in LR5 & CS6. Full frame.
Given the size of the bird in the frame, the larger image is much more effective.
I appreaciate the comments on all my posts and look forward to your input on this one.
Thanks,
