Moods of November

This is a picture I made a couple of days ago not far from home. It may not appeal to most I guess but there is something about the moods and colors of November that I have always enjoyed. This image captured those feeling for me and although I wasn't going to post it I decided ...why not. I will be curious to get any thoughts on it you may have. I'm sure this probably works much better in the larger version, or at least will give you a better look. Thanks, and happy November.

I like it a lot. Great gold tones contrasting the gray sky and great detail in the grasses. A fine understated image!

Interesting shot, Nick.  I was going to pass on commenting as the 720 px version wasn't working for me, then I decided to look at the larger version.  It's a huge improvement, with some nice glow and vastly improved details in the grasses that speaks very well of late fall/early winter especially as set against that stormy sky.

An Andrew Wyeth type of scene. I think there's something very appealing about this subject. I think this subject needs further exploration to get the point across. I do see what you're pursuing here but I think this could be a stronger image. I like the overall color pattern of this image and the reeds on the right and the brush in the center but I'm not sure that's enough to carry this composition. Interesting, though.

I like it, since I have always enjoyed the somber moods of late autumn with those cloudy grey skies. The yellow bush standing out against the slightly duller surroundings is nice.

I get the feeling that snow is an the way looking at this image Nick.  The amber tones and gray skies of late autumn are also very appealing to me.

Love those details and tones in the grasses and the feeling of presence here Nick.  One can almost smell the grass and feel the bite in the air.

There are so many images in my files that I'm on the fence about sharing.  Some things move us that perhaps have little or no appeal to others, particuarly if they lack the pop we are so used to seeing.  For me, it's good enough that you thought it was worth sharing and it spoke to you in an important enough way that it comes through to me. There is a certain parallel flow between the muted colors, trees, and sky that is quite appealing.

Thanks to all of you for taking time to comment on this one. I enjoyed reading your feelings on it and that meant alot to me. Most of my photography is about moods and feelings and as Gary mentioned one never really knows how someone else will respond to that. Photography is a very special thing for me and I love the emotional connection one can have with nature while out enjoying it. Thanks NPN and to all of you for helping me evolve of the years. Thanks, Nick

To me, this is true art.  I can sit and study this for a long time.  I might crop a bit off the sky to make it less centered but that's really being nitty.  Color pallette is just fantastic.  One of your best Nick.

Hi Nick,

I really enjoy this peaceful November view. I feel the mood of a November day is about perfectly captured in this scene, and the large version really opens up the details and tones of the grasses nicely. A lot of people would just walked by this image, but you have shown us the beauty of the area you were in, Beautiful work.
