Canon Beach Sunset

After about a year away from this great community because of "life stuff" I'm enjoying photograhy and nature once again so here we go.
This is an image made at my class reunion a few weeks ago. In hindsight I wish I would have got one at a faster SS to accentuate the waves more clearly. Also would like to bring the whites up in the waves for a little more pop but in reality they just weren't white...in the fading light they were gray. Any thoughts? Thanks for looking.
Here's the basic tech info:

Nikon D7000
Sigma 24-70 @ 70mm
F11 @ 0.60 sec.
ISO 100

I prefer a slower SS in sunset scenes like this. Maybe even 1 second. This is an excellent image of sunsets we somewhat commonly see on the Washington and Oregon coasts.  The slower SS removes it from the ordinary.  Nice shot.

I agree with Jim on the slower shutter, Bruce.  If the waves were crisp, it would just be another (nice) sunset shot, but the soft curl of those waves is very nice.  I might be tempted to play with the color cast of the waves a bit, maybe bump up the greens in the grays just to see what that does.

This is beautiful, Bruce.  I like the symmetry from the layers of color and think because of that the centered horizon works well in this comp.

Love the multiple layers of sand, waves, and sunset sky.  Beautiful image.

Bruce, this does a fine job of putting me there on the beach watching the sunset and listening to the waves.  You've got some fine, yet subtle, crepuscular rays coming from the sun and a warm glow in the wet sand.  The wave action and water darkness looks good to me, with the slight blur and the darker tones letting the ocean play an important, but secondary role.  If you want to selectively bring up the whites in the waves (and my personal opinion is that they don't need it), if you're using an Adobe product, you can selectively dodge them using a layer mask (see Tony Kuyper's web site) that targets the brightest tones.

Beautiful sunset, Bruce. It looks very good to me just as it is here. I think the shutter speed worked out wonderfully and I really like the glowing reflection in the foreground. Very nice!

Very nice sunset image, Bruce, and you've handled the sun's DR perfectly. Hard to do sometimes without it looking artificial. The image might need a 1/4 degree CC rotation.
