My wife and I just got back from a 4500 mile road trip through the southwest. I got to cross off one of my bucket list items when we visited some of the slot canyons around Page, AZ. The commercialism was pretty awful but so it goes. Our guide brought us to this pair hanging out in Owl Canyon. I was the only guy in the group who had a long lens and I'm glad I did. I wish the lower owl's face wasn't partially obscured by the upper's tail but they didn't show much inclination to move and at least I got the eyes. All comments welcome. >=))>

Boom. Drop the mic and walk away.

Absolutely gorgeous image, Bill! Easily one of my favourites of the year. I'm glad you had the telephoto as well, because you certainly used it to create a very special frame here. The tones, textures and lines/forms are exquisite. It has so much going right here that I'm not personally put off that much by the lack of beak/full face on the furthest owl.

Just beautiful.

Great shot in a beautiful location.  I love the owls gazing upward toward the light, the colors and shadows and composition.

Very cool, Bill.  I like the lighting and I'm glad you kept the focus on the upper bird.

Awesome.

There was a pair that nested on the cliff face about half a mile from our house many years ago (before digital), but haven't come back to that location since. I wish my slides looked this good!

Nice to see a post from you in the Avian gallery Bill. I agree with your self assessment on the lower owl's face, but still love the surrounding environment and stacked pair. Nicely done.
