Petrified Forest NP
Chrissy and I just completed a 4500 mile road/camping trip throughout much of the southwest with stops in Death Valley, Bryce Canyon, the north rim of the Grand Canyon, slots around Page, AZ and finally a short sprint through the Petrified Forest. PFNP was pretty amazing with all kinds of abstract possibilites with the logs and badlands and some more conventional comps with the grasses and cactus flowers. Liked this combo of new grass and ancient tree. I like the justaposition of living and long dead, and of plebeian and noble. The preservation of the ancient bark is remarkable, and well captured here!

I love the color of the agate above the living plant and the feeling of old with new.  Sounds like a wonderful trip, Bill.  Glad that you were able to go, hope you had a great time.

Worth seeing, Bill. I am looking forward eagerly to see more of your visit. It is a delight to see the image of the living and the dead. There is much spiritual significance in this for me.

Interesting juxtaposition between the petrified wood and the live grasses, Bill. Well seen and photographed.
