Just Add (Frozen) Water

This photograph was taken yesterday morning.  A little snow had fallen in the higher elevations of the park the day before.  As a result, I wanted to return to this location to see the difference compared to my previous visit over two weeks earlier on October 26th (see this image).  The previous visit was late in the afternoon, compared to early in the morning for this visit.  So the lighting was a little different.  Of course, there aren't as many leaves on the trees now, although somewhat surprisingly some leaves had not yet fallen.  The pool of water in the previous image is now frozen over, although it's difficult to tell by comparing the two images.  And the dusting of snow yesterday adds an appealing element to this composition.

A wonderful caption of transition to my eye. The warm colors of the background together with the snow at the bottom make for an appealing tension for me.

Jim, this version has more interest to me that the previous.  Plenty of detail and color here.  Nice imaging.

In comparison of the 2 images, the foreground addition of the snow adds a little more interest, not that there are problems with the first image.  You could almost blend the two in PS and get an interesting glow with the snow.

Beautiful shot, Jim. Really nice comp and I love what the snow added to this scene. Excellent work!

Real nice capture. This does a great job showing the close of autumn in red rock country. You have done very well in that location.

Wonderful image and conditions, Jim. I like how this scene leads the eye toward the tree in the background.
