Peek-a-Boo

One of my favorite photo sessions of the year featured the family of Yellowstone black bears I've featured here before.  During one of my encounters with the black sow and her two cinnamon cubs, the little ones were really going at it.  It was in a bit of shady forest, so it was difficult to achieve fast shutter speeds without cranking the ISO too high, but a few photos came out as they wrestled, played and chased each other through the trees.

Canon 1DX
Canon 500mm + 1.4x
ISO 3200
1/320th
f/5.6

Max: you caught this playful moment just right. The cubs are upright, looking at each other and action is implied by the raised foot of the left cub. My only minor suggestion would be to burn the oof tree on the left edge as well as to burn to oof trees in the background as they too are bright. I wonder how this would look with a bit of a tighter crop. Congrats! Richard

Love the interaction of the cubs in a natural environment.  No nits here.  Excellent image!

Wow, you captured a magnificent moment perfectly! The expression on the face of the one to the left is priceless. Its foot being lifted from the ground gives the photo a nice dynamic feeling. Can't stop smiling at this one!

This rates so high on the cuteness scale, even the high ISO can't get in the way. Really a great moment. So glad some of your photos came out from watching these little guys.

I love the context as much as the action in this one, Max. Two small cubs playing in the big enchanted forest. Lovely.

Cheers,

Hisham.

What an opportunity and a nice capture of all this cuteness at just the right moment, Max!  I think it would look even nicer and more 3D if you dropped the brightness a bit and added some contrast overall.
