Autumn Snow (Revisited)

The image above was taken on 11/11/2015.  During the snow event that day, I just couldn't resist revisiting this location, where on 11/07/2011 I took and posted this image.  Slightly different vantage points ... slightly different lighting ... a little more snow on the ground this year.  Which composition do you prefer?

The current image has a little more of a high key effect.  They are both nice but different.  Less red in this one. (I wasn't very commital...)

While I like them both I prefer the version with the red rock/sand that helps ID where the image is taken.

Both of these are very nice images showing the snow in Zion in fall. I prefer the older photo because there is the orange color of the ground showing through and I love color. The older one is a little more distanced, and I like that, too. But both are excellent, as are many of your  photos from this area.

Well, I'll go the other way and say that I prefer this one! I like how the snow makes both the greens and the yellows stand out, whereas they are a bit drowned by the red sand in the other version. I always seem to prefer a fresh continous blanket of snow in stead of half melted snow that is scattered around a bit, like on the other version.

Jim,

This works wonderfully.  I like how the snow works to link the two parts of the image together.  For me, I think I prefer the previously posted image.  Mostly because the comp is not quite 50/50 and as others have mentioned, the reddish/orange soil is more prevelant and complimentary to the scene.  Both are quite excellent though!

I also wanted to mention I've enjoyed viewing all your recent images from this area.  The leaves/ice images are outstanding.
