I believe the variety of peony is Coral Charm. It is one that has been in my garden for several years and is one that is most photogenic. Taken with Canon SX50, F4, ISO 800, 1/640 sec.
Comments appreciated.

Beautiful, Patricia. Certainly is a photogenic variety of peony with great form and color. Nicely composed. My only question is why 800 iso and 1/640 vs a lower iso and ss? Intentional to add texture?

Scott. No logical reason at all. The ISO was left on from a previous shot. The rest was selected by the camera when I used the macro mode.

A very pretty photo, Patricia. I love the color of the peony. I wish that I had peonies growing in my yard. My two suggestions would be: 1) I wonder if eliminating the little spots of BG (even in post processing) would help. 2) To me, the photo overall feels a bit over-sharpened.

very nice flow and colors but the iso and oversharpening affect the image.

Lovely color and comp. I don't believe the ISO hurt you so much as the sharpening.

Beautiful composition, Patricia, with a lovely swirl of petals surrounding the centre. I like your dof choice to get just a few stamens sharp, and the sharpness in the petal edges. Not sure whether it might not be even stronger without the bits of bg green but lovely as is.
