Earlier this year up in Colorado National Monument outside of Grand Junction as the thunderstorms died down just before a fairly epic sunset. This one makes a nice B+W too.

Yes, that's definitely a blue sky with lots of shade from the deep blue lrc to purplish tinges ulc.  The diagonal of rocks across the frame works nicely also and includes some interesting textures as well as that dead snag.  I do find myself wishing either to see the rest of that evergreen on the lower right, or having it go away.  While the textures will look good in b&w, I'm enjoying the color contrast both across the sky and between the rocks and sky.

The sky is the star in this one Dave and glad you gave it so much prominence.  That little hint of sun adds interest and the jagged rocks make a strong statement against soft, blue sky.  Thanks for sharing!

Dave, although this WC theme is about rock formations, this sky is a real killer. Love the clouds and the deep BG blue here. Oh ya, the rocks look good too......sad

Dave,
The sky is certainly the star of the image.  I agree with Mark's comment about the tree.  Would like to see what is below it.
