Ugliest Perch Ever!

Well, probably not ever, but it's in the running. This was shot at the Chiricahua Desert Museum north of Rodeo, NM. They have a walled desert botanical garden and a second was being constructed when I was there. Unfortunately, in my opinion, they chose to have some metal statuary of desert plants as well. This was the top of one arm of a Saguaro Cactus. I have no clue what the electrical cord was all about. Unfortunately, this otherwise cooperative Cactus wren, chose only the most unnatural of perches. By the way, this is a nice little private museum and excellent for herps.

7D2, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, monopod, f/10, 1/500, iso 400, aperture priority, center weighted average metering. Processed in LR5 & CS6. Cropped to 15.7 Mpixels. Taken March 7th, 2015, at 9:28 am.

Nice colors and the bird and perch are sharp -- good use of f10 -- liking the way the foreground grasses are slanted twward toward the bird

You have a nice image of the cactus wren, the perch is hardly noticed. I like the detail in the wren. TFS.

Nice pose, sharp bird and I like the oof grasses in the bg Dennis. Yea the perch may be fuggly and the electric cord a mystery but still a nice photo of the Wren.

He gave you a nice pose!. Unnatural perch, but hardly the worst ever! I have a full frame California quail in great light sitting on a florescent orange highway cone. I keep it hoping that my photoshop skills will one day improve enough to save it. Thanks for posting.
