Tree Nursery at Dawn

This is actually from about a year ago.  I went out at first light to get some pictures of the ice on the seedlings.  It's amazing how thick they'll let it build up.

5D3, 28-70 f2.8 L at 70mm, tripod and cable release, f/7.1, 1/160, iso 400, aperture priority, pattern metering, +2/3 stop compensation.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Slight rotation for striaghtening and a corresponding crop to avoid the edge slivers.  Taken November 17, 2014 at 7:32 am (sunrise is theoretically about 7:15 here at that time of year, but it has to get over the surrounding hills).

I look forward to your comments and criticisms.

Thanks,

Fascinating image, Dennis. I actually like this more as aan abstract pano with the trees and spinklers cropped. Excellent capture of the conditions and formations.

I really like how the very subtle yellows/browns in the background trees contrast with the blue. Also - the scale!! Remarkable how much weight those little seedlings are putting up with!

Wonderful structures on those trees, that must be quite a weight! The sprinklers going in all directions are a nice detail too,

Very nice image Dennis.  This is a nice mixture of shapes and textures with soft layered light.  It is an interesting look into our agricultural practices.

Very unique scene Dennis. I would be tempted to crop the front foreground and start w/ the middle ground area as I find the foreground a bit distracting. Great shot overall.

My first thought was that the bottom part interrupted the flow of the composition. But I really love what you've captured above that. Wonderful image and light.
