Egret with chicks

The Alligator Farm in St. Augustine FL is a great place for bird photography - very easy. The birds are not captive but congregate here because of the ideal conditions that have been created. Because of the crowded (bird) conditions, the backgrounds can be a bit of a problem as it was here until I darkened and blurred it a bit.

I love the poses of the chicks looking up at the parent!  Excellent sharpness and you did a good job on the bg.  I was there a couple of years ago and I agree its a great place to photograph birds.

I have heard about this  place for a long time, but never been there. Not too many places provide an opportunity like this to get nesting images this close. Nice job on the comp and I think you handled the busy BG you described very well. I do wish you posted a larger version for an easier critique.

Steve,

I think you posted this image to make me feel bad about my decision to stay with Canon and not have switched to Olympus wink

Thanks very much for all you hints you gave me about the Olympus OM-D EM-1 and the lenses. As I can see from the image the Olympus stuff really delivers fantastic results, the technical part is really very good and the work you made to blur a bit the background looks at least to me very realistic considering the lens you were using.

Nice job and thanks again for the hints devil

A great Florida scene  I like that you got eye contact from two of the chicks and handled the exposure well
