Northern Mockingbird (Mimus polyglottos)

Place: Phoenix, AZ
Date: November 25, 2015
Equipment: Nikon D7200, Nikkor AF-S 300/4 hand held
ISO 800, aperture priority spot meter, 1/500th second @ f/8
Raw, DNG & PS CS3 on Mac, 78% of frame

Another yard bird, this Northern Mockingbird likes to hang out in the shrub beside our drive. I decided to see if it would sit there while I hauled out the camera with the 300/4 for a quick shot from the car window.

Honest critiques requested; all comments appreciated.

Richard,

you managed to get a very well exposure on the bird and also the details are amazing. A pitty that the light conditions have not been at your favour, which for me causes the bright background branches to be too dominat. My honest critique enlightened

Excellent detail and pose, Richard and it stands out surprisingly well from the busy/bright bg.

nice detail, and you managed separate the bird from the overly bright background.

Good work in tough light. A good capture f the species' feisty, belligerent character.
