BETTER VIEW This Female Grizzly was interested to see her surroundings as she stood tall in the estuary.
The Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary of Northern BC Canada is home to the Grizzlies. NO TROPHY Hunting is allowed! This is a temperate rainforest but in the springtime this season no rain had fallen while we were within the park.
Bright sunny days are difficult to get decent images from mid morning to late afternoon . This capture at 2PM BC time was very sunny and contrasty with difficult shadowing.

Bill,
the pose is very nice and I also like the water falling down at her arm. As you said light conditions have been difficult and it is a pitty that the eye / face is shaded. You made the best out of it.

Hello Cay Uwe,.... The grasses had grown quite high , due to warmer weather , at times the bears were almost covered with grasses as they foraged the small islets. Overall a very different experience for me from previous vist, when rain was evident each day , sometimes all-day rain then.
thanks for your feedback

Bill: a good capture. Definitely agree with you re photographing on those bright sunny days. I like the techs, the pose and the environment the bear is in. My only nit would be to have a bit more room on the left. Richard

Hello Richard ... Thanks for the feedback. The time in the Khutzeymateen this season was So different from previous trips. The sun and no rain allowed us to dress without Rain covers & same about our equipment. , But the high contrast during mid day was a torturous experience , seeing so many wonderful opportunities with the bears and their interactions . Hoping for more Rainforest type weather this upcoming season !!:)

Very cool image Bill. Love the pose of this sow. I also like the mouthful of greens and her curiosity makes this one even better. Nice work handling the tough lighting conditions!

Hey Bill,
Good job despite that pesky sun! I think you nailed the colour here pretty well (and I know that's been a bit of a challenge in the past with some of your Khutz shots). I wouldn't mind seeing a tad more space on the left, but as posted it's quite strong.
Cheers...
Brad
PS: I guess you know what I mean now when I tell folks the LAST thing we want in the Khutz are sunny skies! Give me overcast and rain (over blue skies and sun) any day!

Hello Kurt, Richard......Nate.... Thanks for the feedback. Not always easy to capture a Standing Bear. Grasses were mature this season and getting a standing opportunity was well appreciated, even if not more frontal eye contact and bright sun etc...!
Brad... Thanks for the comment... Been there twice & like you.... really, really, like the rain overcast, so much better.
Hoping the upcoming springtime in Khutzeymateen is weather friendly!
