Yosemite Details #14

Thank you for your comments on all the images in my current series. They are appreciated!

This is the same pool as my previous ice images. It is amazing to me how a simple change in angle of view can give such radically different results. I really liked the reflected blue sky and the silver sheen in the ice.

The series now becomes even more interesting with the blue tone.  I didn't expect that after looking at the first few.  I think I made a comment about BW but with this one, color is clearly the way to go.  A tryptich might be a nice way to display the series.  I just looked at the last 2 sided by side and think they go well together.  The similarity in the markings and the contrast between the colors in both images really connects them.

Preston,

Awesome! My favorite of the ice images so far. Perhaps of the entire series.  You really nailed it by taking this slightly closer and really emphasizing those crystal ice patterns - filling the frame with interest and detail.  The silver/blue combo is wonderful. And the large view is just wonderful!  Print it.

I wouldn't change anything, I love this one.  Makes me think more than twice about posting another ice image from this little pool. angelwink

I love the diagonals and the cool tones in this miniature scene, Preston. The textures and details are a work of art. Print this baby. I went back and took a peek at your other Yosemite Details images and this might be my favorite.

Nice!  I like the bold fractal quality of the ice in this and your previous composition.

I like the graphics created by the ice and light contrast. Another wonderful, intimate ine abstract Preston.

A consistent composition to me, Preston, that conveys the icy atmosphere of this intimate scene convincingly to me.

So similar, and yet so different than you previous one. I think many would have gone for a warmer white balance to get some more golden glow in the silvery parts, but I really like how you processed this one. Changing the angle does a lot with these kind of ice reflections indeed, and I have found that a polarizer also can make it look entirely different in ways I didn't expect.

Ahhh, an ice abstract, one of my favorite subjects.  You've got some outstanding shapes here, Preston.  Setting up so that you've got blue sky reflected makes for a nicely chilly yet inviting view.  In comparing the latest 3 images, this is my favorite, but the blue ice with willow leaves is a close second.  Looks like lots of fun seeing and shooting.

This is special Preston.  Love the metallic silver protruding thru the steeley blue ice.  My favorite for sure.

Hi Preston,

Not too much to say about this  image other than it is just AWESOME!!! Love the vivid blues and the lines and diagonals work so very well through out the scene. Really sweet vision, and excellent work.
