The setting sun highlighted the veins in this solitary rock by the sea for just a few moments.

This is a very unusual image for this day and age. For some reason it reminds me of an Ingmar Bergman film from the 50's. Light vs darkness, Christianity vs paganism. I like it.

I like this too, Mark. Simple, sorta melancholy, and really well composed. Nice.

Such a cool capture, especially with those veins in the rock. Good choice going for B+W! It gave me the same feelings as Igor actually.

Picture well done, thoughtful, intense. The B & W is very suitable for this type of images.

Did you move the boulder to look for pirate's treasure? An intriguing study in contrasts, Mark. Gary's comment about melancholy fits very well.

Mark,
A very unique capture. As others have noted, it's about contrasts. Not only contrast in light and tone, but also a contrast in mood or message; a lot could be drawn from this. I see a Nordic like helmet, or even an Arch Bishop's hat (sorry, don't know what they're called.)
Even though the contrast in light is key, I'm kinda wishing there was a little more detail in the rocky beach; not much but some. Otherwise, a unique and impactful image.

Great eye to spot this, Mark. This is very unusual and moody; great work. Great call on making this a B&W.
