Red Bellied Woodpecker

I found this Red Bellied Woodpecker as he was rapidly moving up and down this tree. I would have preferred a little headturn toward me but he was too busy to notice me I guess. I like how the colors in this image make the bird pop against the background. I did a little burning on the tree to take the brightness down.

Thanks for looking, comments & suggestions are always appreciated!

Excellent detail, sweet pose, and a great bg, Steve.  Nice dof as well.  My only nit is that I think it might have worked just a bit better if you had framed the bird just a tiny bit further to the right so there was a tad less trunk and a tad more space behind the bird.  That's all pretty subjective though-just my personal taste.  A lovely shot regardless.

I echo Dennis's comments!  I would like to see it just a tad darker overall.  The large detail image looks very sharp.  Thanks for sharing.

Nice pecker ! Agree with Dennis about the tree trunk, but other than that a darn fine shot! Cheers, Hans

Hey Steve,
Indeed, this is one fine shot, great detail, wonderful color pallet and a sweet background. I also agree with the less tree trunk and more BG behind the subject as already mentioned. I would also give the image some clock wise rotation to parallel the inner edge of the trunk with the outer edge of the frame, as is, it looks tilted. Just minor tweaks of an already outstanding image.
Well done . . .  devil
