Feral?

I encountered this young looking cat a couple of times on our local nature preserve this summer and had my camera with me one of those times.  I liked it's looks with the tabby face and Siamese eyes and body.  I haven't seen it in months, so I suspect it went the way of so many uncared for kittens.

7D2, Sigma 150-600 C @ 388mm, hand held from car window, f/6.3, 1/200, iso 1250, aperture priority, pattern metering, -1/3 EV.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  A minor crop for composition.  Taken at 7:57 pm on July 24th, 2015.

Comments and critiques are welcome and appreciated.

Thanks,

Dennis,

I like the "wild" look and feel of this image. The pose of the cat is also very nice being its body diagonal placed. Also the stare which is typical for cats is great. Technically I think that the fur on its bag is a bit bright.

Thanks for posting in this new gallery. I hope to see more images from others.

You certainly caught this feral cat in a wild looking environment.  Appears to be on the hunt.  Not much you can do about the stalks of grass in between you and the cat.  Thanks for sharing.

Hi Dennis,

Saw a documentary on house cats recently that more or less implied that they're all pretty much feral! I hope this feline did OK and just moved on. I like the intense stare the cat is giving.

From a photographic perspective I like the shot, but wonder if it could be improved just a tad by removing just a tad of foreground - to me it appears a little excessive. If you have room all around I'd add what you cropped off on the bottom on the top...

Cheers...looking forward to more shots from you in Man & Fauna...
