November Rains

We get deer visiting the back yard of our five acres now and then, and we've had two or three that have been pretty regular this fall and winter.  I almost ignored this shot as a throw-away, but when I looked at it, I liked what the rain did to it.

7D2, Sigma 150-600 C @ 468mm, handheld, f/6.3, 1/640, iso 1000, aperture priority, pattern metering.  Processed in LR5 & CS6. Sharpened and increased saturation a trifle in both the deer and the ferns.  Small crop from the bottom and left.  Taken November 11th at 11:03 am in fairly heavy rain.

Comments and criticisms are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Dennis,

I like this type of mood for images and the monochromatic colors add even more to the mood. Technically also fine and when looking to the lrge version one even sees a bit of glance in the eye, which I like as well.

I agree that the rain makes the shot.  Too bad her ears weren't forward.  Nice shot.

Hi Dennis, the rain adds a lot to this photo, very nice, I might try to pull a bit more light out of the eye by  doing a selective adjustment there. devil

Hi Dennis,

I agree that the rain adds valuable mood and feel to this shot. If I didn't know better, it almost looks like it's lightly snowing! I also like the almost pastel colours that the lighting and rain "imparted" this shot. As a stickler on how out-of-focus zones are used, I quite like that virtually the entire foreground is in focus, adding a very natural look to this shot!

Cheers...
