Rarely have I seen so little fog as this fall / winter here at the foot of the Jura Mountains. It also has very little snow. At least on the Jura Mountains, there's usually some snow. I remember back when I was a kif in the seventies of the past century, we hardly ever seen the sund from October to February here at the foot of the Jura Mountains. Such weather conditions like we have now, makes landscape photography not really easier. But there are other possibilities and opportunities. To make a long story short, I couldn't take the image I was looking for on that particular morning so finally I ended up once again the Swiss Belchen Region. I was so astonsihed to see the famous "wave from Belchen". I didn't have time to look for a new comp so I decided to make more or less a familiar comp from that sujet as I did last year from that location but there's enough difference between the two images since the light and colors were otherwordly and the sky was full of drama.
Techs: Nikon D810, 24-70mm/f2.8 @62mm, Iso32, f11,20seconds, ND Grad Filter 0.6 (Hard) & Big Stopper, Double Processing for dynamic range

Nothing wrong with redoing the same subject, because this is totally different than your previous mist shot from this location! Much more calm and moody, yet I think both are equally great. This should make a great and much wanted print me would say! Excellent work.

Bill,
I cannot express how much I like this image.  It is surreal in a wonderful way.  It seems like a fairy tail.  Is us simply stunning and I cannot imagine anything that might improve it.  The fog leads my eye down to where the home is.  Thank you for sharing this.

The clouds give such a dynamic flavor to the image and the colors are soothing to the soul. A beauty of a view.  I might take a little off the top of the sky to give a little more attention to the lower station area.  Not much /any snow here either cheeky

Very dramatic, beautiful colors and  the fog wave is special.

@all: Thanks for your comments, suggestion and feedbacks. As always it's very much appreciated. and no we don't have any snow either here. It's much too warm and to dry.

I love this, Bill.  Your decision to use a six stop nd was ingenious.  What is a Big Stopper?  Another nd? I just love the warm, foggy tones in the sky and the clear crisp greens in the land surrounding the building.  Just fabulous.

I agree with Harry on cropping a tish off the top

Fabulous capture which looks more like a surreal painting than a photograph. Stunning. Richard
