I had been attempting to photograph a spider in my backyard when I noticed another spider lower in the bush just as a cricket(?) landed on the net and in an instant was being wrapped up.  I do wish I had been able to get the strands of the web sharper, but the action was over very quick.

Canon SL1
1/200 @ 2.8 ISO 400
Canon 100mm 2,8 macro HH

John, this is a good look at this spider "doing it's thing".  You've got good detail in the webbing around the cricket and some nice color both in the cricket and the spider's body.  The spider is sharp enough to fit well and you've got enough webbing to tell the story.  Spider's and their webs are tough because you're working close enough that it's very difficult to get both the spider and the web sharp in a single shot.

Very nice and it bugs me that you were able to do this so well.

Excellent action, John.  Given the very limited dof in Macro, getiing a sharp action shot would seem to be nearly impossible.  Focusing on the prey worked well in this case.  I like being able to see the silk coming from the spinnerets to the prey.  A very cool image.
