The Iconic Kiss
by Patrick O'Healy
June 28, 2015 The Balboa Island Parade covers about 4 blocks of the entry street onto the island. This was the 22nd annual event. People were three deep along the parade route, and it is a favorite local event. Many of the entrants were quite camp. Unfortunately the Patio Chair Drill Team did not photograph as well as they performed live. There was a large WWII contingent of soldiers, vehicles, a Douglas MacArther impersonator with the classic corn cob pipe, and a troupe of dancers in period outfits. This pair of jitterbuggers stopped periodically to emulate the iconic kiss between the nurse and the sailor.

3 commentsPatrick, just had to open this image up as the couple truly has the scene duplicated very well. Looks like the wind had all the flags in the image poised nicely for the shot too.
