We had a mixed bag of weather this particular day as it started out sunny, then rain, then some sleet. Thinking we might have some good conditions for a dramatic colorful sunset we headed up Cadillac Mountain and set up the tripods pointing toward the west. We were not disappointed . This view is looking out over Mt Desert Narrows.

As always thanks for taking a look and leaving a comment or suggestion.

The light and the weather combined for a very dramatic scene. I like everything about this image. If I had any suggestion it might be to crop just a little off the top, but that is not necessary for the impact of this image.

Ed, you've got some beautiful light here and a fine sense of depth.  The details in the larger version add nicely, especially in the foreground.

Impressive sunset indeed, the red haze is very sweet. No nits!

Ed,

Dramatic scene and the weather/atmosphere really takes this well beyond your standard sunset. The inclusion of the strips of water and land add to this as well.

I was just gonna mention I had no nits, but then looking at the larger view I noticed just one little sensor dust spot near the left edge in the highlights.  No biggie, but should clone if you want to print.

Ed,
I like this a lot. Has a beautiful dreamy quality. I might suggest dodging the foreground a bit to bring up the refections in the water.

Beautiful use of the negative space at the bottom.  Colors above are fantastic and the water reflection helps give some nice depth to the shot.  Feels like an abstract painting for me. Nicely textured sky too.  Looks like you had a great time in ME.

very pleasurable and soft transitions of tone and colours. I like much also the composition ( 3 horizontal stripes dark-light-dark, so well working).
All the best,

As per Dave's suggestion here is a repost with the FG and water lightened a bit.

lovely colours, especially in the lower half.  in fact, this screams "pano" to me, slicing off the top half and something off the bottom. just a thought!
