I think this is a juvenile Red-tailed Hawk, but I'm not sure. Feel free to weigh in. Found this guy along the Mississippi River while trrying to photograph eagles.

Processed using Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CC 2014. Comments and critiques welcome.

Hi Jerry,

This looks like a young red-tailed hawk. The center composition is OK but you could trim a little off the left  to give the hawk some more room on the right.  I think that should make for a more dynamic composition.  I'm amazed that you found a narrow window to get the shot with all of those sticks and branches.................................Jim

ps.:  Your second version with the crop looks great!

Looks like a sub-adult Red-tailed to me. Nice photo, but I agree with Jim Z. on the comp. It's a bit too cntered for my taste.

Looks likeit to me, Jerry.  I see lots of them at Ridgefield NWR in just this kind of situation and pose.  Nice to find it in the clear like this.  Is this a pretty fair crop?  I seem to be seeing some noise in the hawk and it's a tiny bit soft in the larger image, which doesn't fit with your normal images.

Thanks for all the comments. Dennis, this is a fairly large crop. I agree that it is a bit soft. Not sure exactly why. I re-cropped to make the hawk less centered.
