Winter Chapel

Gallery: Weekly ChallengePosted January 5, 2016212 views8 comments
Anyone who has visited Yosemite in the winter has photographed this sweet little chapel, a place that is busy with weddings throughout the spring, summer and fall, but that looks peaceful and quiet during a snowy winter. Had to post it in this weekly challenge!

Canon 5d,M3, ISO400, f/16, 55mm, 1/125 sec.

Thanks in advance for any comments or critiques.

This looks great, Kathy.   Love the warm inviting chapel in a mostly b&w setting.

A beautiful structure in a gorgeous setting Kathy.  It looks very well maintained too.  The browns of the chapel set it off well against the white backdrop and the evergreens.  Great choice of verticle format too.

Kathy, This looks great, and it has such a nice inviting feel to me. Easy to see why so many visit and photograph this wonderful little place. Nick

What strikes me nicely is the color contrast of the green and browns against the seemingly monochromatic background.

I believe I've seen this before and liked it a lot.  I still like it just as much.  The clean straight lines of the church contrast very nicely with the more organic trees and cliffs.  This is one of those times when the primary subject being centered works perfectly.  The composition is well balanced and the vertical format works perfectly as it fits the shape of the church much better and lets the church be a larger part of the scene.  Very nice and perfect for the challenge, Kathy!  devil

Congratulations on your weekly pick win.  Great image!  The chapel really stands out through the snowy trees.
