Bryce Canyon NP

Toward the end of our first day in Bryce last October the sunset possibilities seemed pretty blah. But then we heard thunder to the north and within what seemed like just a few minutes this little storm rolled in and put on a short lived show. Made for a nice ending to a very fulfilling day. All comments welcome.>=))>

Nice scene and lit virga at Bryce.  The canyon and pieces of blue sky seem a bit too yellow to me; perhaps cool the white balance some?  Great sky to compliment the spires.

Bill,
Excellent image. That is one awesome sky. Agree with Doug that the canyon hoodoos appear just a tad too yellow. Perhaps how you saw the scene due to the prevailing lighting but might be worth experimenting with the temp slider. Nice work.

Very beautiful scene and sunset Bill. The overall image seems to have a yellow tint to it. Not sure if it's reflected light from the sunset or color balance being a bit warm.

Excellent timing and capture of the storm at sunset, Bill.  Great sky to go with the amazing Byrce canyon.

Excellent capture of a classic Bryce scene, Bill.  I've shot from this location a few times, but never with such a dramatic atmosphere.

Gorgeous sky! The detail is excellent. The color on the sky and foreground hoodoos look fine to me, what does look a bit yellow is the horizontal rock layer that caps the mesa at the top of the cliff. But I see how it could be reflection from the sky, and thus quite real.

This is a neat catch with those clouds above the hoodoos, Bill.  The larger view looks great, with tons of detail in the landscape.  For me, one of the most fascinating aspects of Bryce is how different the colors in the hoodoos are with changing light.

Lots of details and shapes to enjoy with the hodos and all capped off with that drama laden sky. Nicely done, Bill.

Bill,

Wonderful take from Bryce.  As others have mentioned the sky/storm is awesome.  What I find works beautifully here is the balance between the stomy sky and the canyon/formations. Just so interesting to me that the land occupies ~2/3 of the space in the image and the sky only 1/3, yet they have equal "weight" in terms of impact.

Great job with this one.  A wall hanger for sure.

This is just stellar, Bill. I could maybe see the whites in the hoodoos brought up just a bit, but that's minor. This one of the nicest images I've seen of Bryce Canyon, and the sunlit virga really takes this up a notch.

Love this, Bill.  So nice to get a good sky when in Bryce to go along with unique scenery.  Very nice.

Good you got the storm.  The colors at the base of the cloud make the shot.

I remember standing at this point more than 10 years ago, but I did not have such splendid light. The orange in the sky works very well with the orange rocks, a perfect match.

Absolutely gorgeous image of Bryce Canyon, Bill.  Remarkable how the hoodoos almost act as a reflection of the falling rain, graced by that golden light, in the distance.  A stunning image.
