Thank you for your comments on "Webster's." This is another image made at the same time. Coincidently, I reworked this image this morning, before Balan posted his similar-subject "Life Lines" image. Although Balan's image is similar, I decided to go ahead and my post my image just to show there are different ways to capture simlar images. Balan used a reverse lens set-up which resulted in very shallow dof and a selective pof; I tried to get as much of the web in focus as possible without introducing distracting bg. The images are therefore similar subject wise but different in result. D600, 150 macro, 1/50, f9, iso 400.

The angled lines of web and dew here are wonderful, Scott.  Getting most of the drops sharp works very well.  The orange colored prey is a great addition and perfectly placed.  An outstanding image.

Scott ..ive been there ..and I know its not easy to make an image with the dof you have achieved here. In that situation getting the right plane is no way easy. Hats off ...for the results ...and thanks for talking about my image..

Hi Scott,

Looks good--nice BG and the position of the midge is perfect.  Pretty good sharpness for the used exposure.................Jim

A gorgeous image, Scott.  All those water beads are great and the larger ones on the transverse strand make a an interesting pattern very nicely interrupted by the trapped insect.  Well done.

I think I like this one even more than the previous one, mostly, I think, because there are so many "pearls" in focus, and because of the strong repetitive pattern.

Scott, Excellent plane of focus! Like theses paralleled pearl necklaces. The prey is a wonderful addition. devil

Wow, just wow.... The uniformity of the drops is staggering I must say, the background is spot on, and so is the sharpness of the drops. Great job pulling this one off!

The different shades of green in the BG really make this work for me.  The diagonals of the web are the constant.

Scott, love these type of images with the beads of water strung along the webs such as seen here. Years ago I caught a shot of a similar web, but not anything as nice as this one. Very well photographed and processed......laugh

Hi  Scottcrying   love how you composed  the balanced proportions of  form in  the beads....  i  like how  all the dew  seems to be running to the  prey, drawing  our eye to  it.devil

It's all been said already. I especially like the pattern of bigger drops and smaller drops and also the contrast between the straight diagonals and the almost vertical zig-zag line.

Scott: Simply marvelous. Webs are a favorite subject of mine but as you well know incredibly difficult to shoot. This is a superbly crafted image in every respect. Congrats on a very well deserved WP. >=))>
